I’m looking to contact other woodworkers, amateur or professional, in the Central Louisiana area (Alexandria, Natchitoches, Leesville, etc.) interested in a woodworkers guild or club. As far as I know there’s not such a club or guild around here and I think we should have one. (I think there’s a turning club in Lafayette or Lake Charles.)

There is a turning club in Lafayette (Acadiana Woodturners ( I am not aware of a general woodworkers club in south or central Louisiana though.

I couldn’t believe that with all the little shops there was in New Orleans I never found anything it the 4 years I was there that was more organized. Mostly everything was based off of word of mouth and personal connections.

My brand-new-to-me lathe is in Lecompte; I would very much like to get in touch with some experienced turners in the area!

There is a wood working club in Baton Rouge, Baton Rouge woodworkers. They hold monthly meetings on the first Saturday of every month at a members house anywhere from south Baton Rouge to as far north as Clinton. We have a few bowl turners but most all of the members are furniture builders. You can check out their web site at
