Topic tags/keywords: thanks

It never ceases to amaze me how kind and sharing people are here at lumberjocks. After posting on my blog abut my RAS Torsion box and how long it took me to get the drawing down, DaveR sat down and recorded not one but two video’s on how to do it quickly and easily. He also extended an offer to me personally to talk to me about Sketchup and where I was having my difficulties. I am a consultant in the computer industry and I can tell you not too many people would be willing to send a stranger their personal contact info and then sit and spend an hour in the evening talking and providing great knowledge transfer of a product with nothing expected in return! Not only that, this all happened on the same day! My hats off to DaveR and all of the great lumberjocks willing to share their knowledge!

Y’know, we really are fortunate to have such a great community. Martin seems to keep a pretty clean house, and that seems to let the rest of us thrive. I appreciate this site greatly…

Dave is Da Man! After trading some posts back and forth on another forum, twice he’s had me phone him at home and spent 30-45 minutes walking me through some SU learning issues. This was prior to the wealth of info he and others now have on the Taunton site. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Incidently he’s also a good source of info on the Woodrat.

Whoyagonna call? Dave Richards.

Hi sIKE;

I agree it’s amazing the help that is offered here. I have received help from Jude, Dave @ the folding rule show, and Mot, along with several others, just because they could.

I had a fellow woodworker call me about a week ago. He found me through this site, and checked out my woodworking site. He was wondering if he could visit my shop and learn some tips on veneering. We set it up for yesterday.

When he arrived, the first thing he did was give me a beautiful pen he had turned, in a nice presentation box.

We spent some time going over general shop idea and procedures, before getting onto a small course in veneering techniques. I have no experience as a teacher, so I didn’t have veneer course all laid out, but it still went well.

I personally enjoy meeting with fellow woodworkers and talking shop. It’s inspiring, and I always learn something.

Pretty awesome.

Lee

Thats the great thing about this site..it’s not only a fun place to come and “hang out” with fellow wood workers and a great wealth of information and inspiration, but there is almost always someone on here that can answer any question that you might have, and everyone is so willing to help and offer their time and knowledge.

Lee,

Now you are selling your self short here, you have made several videos on veneering that I have watched and you have taught me. Now you might be more comfortable with the distance learning type instruction than face-to-face instruction, but make no mistake you are a teacher!. Thank you for spreading the knowledge!

Thank you for the kind words sIKE and all. I’m happy to be able to help with something around here.

I enjoyed talking with you last night, too.

I want to chime in, too. I have received so much from this site that was all willingly offered with no thought of any form of payment. You cannot ask a question here that someone can’t answer. That plus everyone is polite and considerate to everyone else, with only very rare exceptions.
