Most of us here want to be tracked by our buddies but would rather not have our movements and choices registered by companies. I am using a small, free program called Ghostery now to stop them. When the program kicks in (instantly and seamlessly) you can see by a short flash on your screen just how many people are after your data. Ghostery stops some 1200 companies from peeking at your habits and has the added benefit of eliminating a lot of ads as well (works everywhere too! not just on the best woodworking site on the net). After showing you who’s tracking you, Ghostery™ also gives you a chance to learn more about each company it identifies. How they describe themselves, a link to their privacy policies, and a sampling of pages where we’ve found them are just a click away.
Ghostery™ allows you to block scripts from companies that you don’t trust, delete local shared objects, and even block images and
Note: Sometimes you will need to disable it or a particular tracker to see search results or comments on a site. Easy to do, and then just reload.
