Topic tags/keywords: resource saw

MIGHT be a good deal? Seems there was this old, green & yellow metal box. Still had a handle on top, as well. Something about a Home Shop saw on the yellow label….

Got the box home after a morning of “Yard Sailing” around. Opened the Mystery Box to find..

An all metal trim saw? It even had a metal label on the body..

It did have a nice, groovy base to it, though…

Blade was about 6, maybe 6-1/2” diameter, with a diamond knockout. There were a few extra blades in the case, too..

Ok, so far so good. I went to plug this saw in, and try it out. NOTHING happened! Not even a smell alert! Got to checking things out a little better…...White tape around the cord? Pulled that stuff off…..three wires from the saw, ok. Two wire from a two prong plug? Hmmm, not so ok. White wires connected? Yep. Saw’s green wire connect to the plug’s black wire? Hmmm , this ain’t right. Saw’s black wire just sitting by it’s lonesome….Ah, that is the problem! Cut away the bad stuff, install the correct plug, wired the correct way..

Plugged it in to a nearby, breaker protected outlet. No sparks? Breaker didn’t blow? Pull the trigger…IT IS ALIVE! Runs like new!. Need to find a new trim blade for it, but I now have a nice little trim saw.

Worth the $5 + a new plug???

I was wondering where my saw went. Lent it out a few years ago & it never returned!!! Lol.

Nice score!!!

Seems to be a late 40s-early 50s sort of thing. Went pricing saw blades the other day….yipes! Lot more than I paid for the saw. Box could use a re-hab, just a bit of rust, right. That yellow logo on the front might be a challenge, though…

Vintage is cool ,but remember those oldies have metal bodies and can be very unsafe if they short out

My dad had an OLD 8” all metal Skil, about the same, if not older. Never got zapped using it, but it was a load to carry around. Still in his basement, BTW.

Bruce: Not a Thief, just an Honorable Bandito. Now you know why I use that name…

I had a Sears Craftsman 7-1/4 all metal one ( a FREEBIE, no less) and now I have a trim saw. Might even have a set of brushes IF they were to got worn out. Sears one did not have a case, though. Bummer.
