Is it really only 0.75 HP? that’s like a small router, isn’t it?

Yeah, I think I would compare it to more of a router table. Really not for sure as I have never used a HF shaper. I just don’t understand why a person would ask 600 for a machine that can be had for 370 brand new. The seller knows this because the first time he listed it I emailed him and sent him a link from HF. And yet the guy re listed the shaper now a week later. I wonder if people who knowingly asks twice retail value for a used item is intentionally attempting to feed off the ignorant or folks who are without knowledge. It makes me mad when folks try to take advantage. Just my own little annoyance.

My shapers are 7.5 hp. I could use 10 hp with some of the heavier cutters. 3/4 hp is not enough but for the smallest cutters. A high speed router would be much better.

A quick post to the same CL section with the link to the HF product website will get the item removed or priced to sell. I’ve done that several times. None of the posters have sent me a nasty e-mail yet… LOL

Jerry,
What do you think the 20 shaper bits are worth in “additional worth?”

FWIW, I am within 40mi of this but find my 3 1/4hp Triton router TS extension to be more than up for the things I throw at it. Plus, I also have a horizontal router/mortiser that has changed my WW-ing very much to the better.

I watch the SA-CL regularly for DPs but find the same kind of over-pricing and limited selection (HF and Crapsman).

Hey Mike,

It says “wood shaping router bits”. I can only guess here, but if the person buys a shaper from harbor frieght, I am guessing he is not out buying freeborn cutters. Since they are a set of 20 router bits, I am guessing the bits are not worth a great deal. Many router bit sets can be had for not much money. My very first set of router bits came from HF, they were fun to learn on. I know I did not give much money for them. If a buyer is interested in the shaper, it is likely the person is interested in having the ability to choose his/her own profiles.

Still, I am certain the deal does not come close to 600.00. We own 2 ‘3hp grizzly’ shaper and 2 ‘3hp powermatic’ shapers and 2 power feeders. We have given 2,800.00 for all 4 shapers and both powerfeeders.

Oh yeah, and I posted the link on CL and I got flagged.

Lol!

I’d like to also mention JB gave my family an excellendeal for 1 grizzly shaper and powerfeeder for 400.00. That was a true blessing. He listed here on
Lj. :)

I don’t know why I get irritated when I see these CL postings. I probably should just ignore them.
