I downloaded SketchUp today and all went well. When I try to open a SketchUp file someone else has linked, my cmputer tries to open it in Photoviewer, and it doesn’t work…...can someone tell me how to change the default program for opening these files? Sorry this isn’t really “woodworking”......

Thanks,
joe

Mojoe, you should be able to “right click” on the sketchup file then choose “open with” or “set default”

Hope this helps!

Is the file association for that file .skp? Have you tried opening the file through SketchUp?

Be aware that Sketchup creates .skp and .skb files. The .skp are automatically associated with Sketchup but the others aren’t. They are backup files that will open with Sketchup just like the .skp files but for some reason they aren’t automatically associated with the program.

Go to Control Panel->Programs->Default Programs->Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program. Look for .skp and .skb and make sure they’re set to SketchUp.
