What do you guys think about this lathe pros or cons. Thinking about this cause of the Black Friday sale I can get it for $3399 with free shipping.

Well pulled the trigger on the lathe today. Hope it werks well. Sure is a lot of money. Now I will have to turn a lot of bowls and maybe sell a few to recoup my investment. I told my boys I was spending their inheritance.

Hey, if it gives you some enjoyment and your able to put a few smiles on other peoples faces from some of your turnings then it is money well spent…...

I’m a fellar that don’t like to spend money so I have to keep reminding myself of this. Haaa Haaa.

It will hopefully be the last lathe I will ever buy. It is a giant step up from my old Craftsman tube lathe.

I don’t know if you’re familiar with Alan Stratton’s AsWoodTurns channel on YouTube, but he uses that same lathe and make some very nice pieces with it.

Thanks Rich for the link. I bookmarked and subscribed to it. Maybe I can learn something about the lathe and turning also.

Think of it as less than $1 a day for 10 years. You’ll probably like it more in 10 years. It’s an awesome lathe.

Well received it yesterday and was surprised it came so fast. Ordered Monday & delivered Wednesday. That was fast. My cousin came with his backhoe and helped me get it on my back porch shop. I am now in the process of assembling it. I will have to run a circuit from the house panel as it is 220v.

Got it put together yesterday and will run the elec circuit today. I think I will use a disconnect box instead of a plug as a safety factor for my situation. My chuck adapter wouldn’t fit so I ordered one last night. I have a Nova G3 chuck that I used on my Craftsman tube lathe. With the larger capacity of the Powermatic lathe what chuck would you turners recommend for a larger chuck or would this chuck handle large bowls? .

Recommend buying a new threaded insert for you Nova G3 chuck first.

If find need bigger chuck lather on Nova, Oneway & Vicmarc have great chucks. Best one for your new lathe is the one you like and can afford.

Good luck with new lathe.

I ordered the insert and it should be here Monday. The Oneway is a bigger chuck but if I get the Nova I can use the jaws on my G3 also so gotta decide. I’m thinking bout the Oneway for the fact of it being bigger and it has groves in the jaws but haven’t made up my mind. I’ve got time to decide. Probably just wait till I can get it on sale.

I am sure you will get several chucks as time goes on…... The G3 is a good chuck but smaller, You will probably end of getting a Oneway Strong hold or a SuperNova2 or the bigger one Titan…... I have 4 of the SuperNova2 and 2 OneWay strong hold….. And the small chuck by Oneway…. Watch out for the sales on the Supernova cause sometimes they have it with 4 diff sets of jaws which is nice…. Last one I bought was 3 years ago and it was on sale for 170 with 4 jaw sets… Not bad…. I do prefer the Oneway Cole jaws vs the Nova…. For every chuck get the insert….. You got yourself a nice Lathe enjoy it….

Maybe I’ll have to put a bug in my son’s ears for a chuck. Haa Haa

Be a while before I can afford that many chucks. You must have a chuck for each set of jaws.

By the way Amazon had the lathe for $3375. Could have saved $25 if I waited. But then I wouldn’t be using it already.
