help choosing a new jig saw

I have one similar to this model and it works great.

I like my dewalt and have had no issues with it. It has a no screw way of attaching the blade and comes with a case. Tomorrow is black friday so maybe you could score one for close to a hundred bucks. Steal the adds from your wife and take a look. Set your alarm for 3 am and fight the crazies to save some money!

I like my Hilti for 100.00 off of Craigslist.

I might suggest you get a jig saw with bearings on the back
of the blade so it tracks properly.

Bosch makes all kinds of nice jigsaws….For right @ 100 dollars, the first link will be hard to beat.

thanks everyone for the help.i’m gonna still the sale papers from the boss and look.i’ve never owned a bosch tool but have always heard they where quality.i looked at reviews on dewalts at the big box stores,most where 3&4 star but on amazon there 4&5 star.i appreciate the help and happy thanksgiving!!!

I have used a Bosch. It was the barrell model ( I think that is what they called it). It has no handle and you hold the motor by the barrel andI must admit I didn’t care for it. Probably just me but that is the one I had to please. fortunately I didn’t won it. I went in on Black Fri a couple of years back and ACE had this Dewalt on for $60. It has the roller buides for the blade, quick release for the blade (no tools req to replace the blade) it has a handle on the top like I wanted, I had adjustable feed rates and a carrying bag. I like it then and still like it today. Good luck in you shopping. BTW I had one of those big Craftsman saws and never cared for it either. It still sits there and hasn’t gotten any better. Maybe I can find someone I don’t like that will take it off my hands. LOL I might give that to my brother-in-law…....ha ha ha ha ha

I have the same Bosch as Jim, and I love it. It does NOT have the barrel handle which was more expensive and I wasn’t keen on how the barrel handle balanced in my hand anyway.

My previous jigsaw was a cordless Canadian Tire special and I haaaaated it. I don’t think you’ll regret the Bosch.

Whatever jigsaw you get make sure the base plate stays locked in place. I have a Ryobi saw whose base plate will not stay straight no tight the locking lever is. Drives me nuts and it would drive you nuts too.

i braved the big box store today after work a bought me a bosch js260.also picked up a set of bosch blades so hopefully tomorrow i’ll get to put it to work.thanks for all the help.

Bosch 584vs barrel grip..bought it from the tool crib…before amazon did the buy out..works perfect..came with a steel case..

I have the Bosch barrel type and love it. It probably has more torque than the regular body style and I feel like I have more control as I’m holding on to the unit closer to where the cutting is taking place. I have even cut 1/8 inch angle iron with mine using the Progressor metal blades. I also have a Bosch belt sander – as my tools need replacement I’m starting to look to Bosch and Makita first.

i put my to work this weekend and am really impressed with it so far.i’m glad willardz mentioned to get there blades also cause they seem to cut well and last.i think i’m gonna look at bosch in the future for tool replacements and new purchases also.thanks.

Glad you’re enjoying your Bosch. I have a Bosch drill, impact driver and TS. No regrets with any of those purchases. The market here is a bit more limited than in the US, but the two brands I seem to be acquiring are Bosch and Ridgid.
