I’m thinking about making my son a (some) simple toys for Christmas. He’s 15 months old. I don’t want to do typical cars, or airplanes. I’ve never made toys so I don’t know exactly what I’m looking for. I’ve been searching the net, but thought you all might have better ideas. Any thoughts, tips, or links to help me out would be appreciated.

I have made my 2 year old a few wooden toys. He likes rockets so I made him one. I turned the body on the lathe and carved the fins with chisels, gouges and rasps. He’s obsessed with vacuums and loves Dyson, so I turned him a little ball vacuum. I’ve also made him some play food. He has some toy pots and pans and likes to pretend he’s cooking when you’re in the kitchen. I used mineral oil to finish everything.
