I just got an email introducing the new Powermatic 1500.
Loaded with features , but I haven’t seen the price yet…..I can only imagine !!

Man, one of those would be nice… they have enough power to cut just about anything you throw at them! I’m guessing $3500 for the smaller motor models.

I believe it comes stock with a 3hp 230volt motor….that should do it !!

For that price I could have ALL THREE Rikon bandsaws (10”, 14”, & 18”) in my shop! I am sure that the Powermatic is a better BS, but THAT much better?... Maybe in a large production environment, but not in my little hobby shop. For now, I am happy to have my little 14” Rikon. Granted, I have only resawn up to 9” thus far. Maybe when resawing 12-13” the Powermatic beefiness would do a better job than the Rikon… I just do not know.

It sure looks cool but if I were in the market for a BS I would wait 6mo.-year to see what reviews have to say about it.
