Hi. I have a chance to buy a Clifton 420 shoulder plane for $90. It looks to be in barely used shape and it comes with the original box. I wondered if anyone has any experience with Clifton. I was looking at the LN but at this price it seems like a great deal. I appreciate any advice. I just started to buy and use hand tools more in the shop and boy is it easy to get caught up in them. I am having the kind of fun again that I had when I first started woodworking. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and please keep all of our Military men and women in your thoughts and prayers. Flyboy, for 90 dollars, grab it fast!

Preston makes top notch tools and their quality is comparable to LN and the likes. Grab It!!!

Clifton tools are excellent, and their shoulder planes are probably their best. That shoulder plane probably sells for $250 new.

Nice plane!

I think that’s a good price for an excellent tool.

On Ebay with the box they sell for over $200, they are a top notch tool. If you can afford it and don’t go for it you will regret it for years!

Hi everyone. Well the guy emailed me today and I told him I would take it. He said I was the only person that did not try to get a lower than $90 price so he wanted me to have it. I go Monday to pick it up. This hand tool thing has sure gotten the better of me. I have not used my jointer or planer in over a month. At times it is more work but the feeling I get after edging a board or smoothing makes it all worth while. Now I just need to find a good router plane to add and I will be all set.LOL. This doesn’t ever stop does it. Thanks to everyone for helping me make my decision. Flyboy
