Topic tags/keywords: black and decker professional industrial heavy duty dewalt

It seems that for a time between 1986 and 1993, Black & Decker had sold its heavy-duty and super-duty power tools under two different labels: PROFESSIONAL (yellow text) and INDUSTRIAL (red text, with “Heavy Duty” below that) but that most of those tools were otherwise the same.

I can’t be sure of the exact motive for the yellow text label, but I could think some of those were sold in a few home improvement stores (the red text label tools mainly were sold by authorized B&D dealerships).

Starting in January 1992, B&D brought out 33 power tools under the DeWalt label. These were, again, mostly similar to their own Professional and Industrial line of tools, but they had a yellow casing or housing rather than the dark gray ones.

And then in the fall of 1993, B&D brought out its green Quantum line of power tools, to slot between their consumer line and their year-old DeWalt line.

A FEW CASES IN POINT:
Model 1311 (Industrial Heavy Duty label) was also sold as Model 1309 (Professional label) and Model DW110 (DeWalt).
Model 1348 (Industrial Heavy Duty label) was also sold as Model 1301 (Professional label) and Model DW120 (DeWalt).
Model 2600 (Industrial Heavy Duty label) was also sold as Model 1179 (Professional label) and Model DW102 (DeWalt).
Model 2610 (Industrial Heavy Duty label) was also sold as Model 1317 (Professional label) and Model DW130 (DeWalt).
Model 2680 (Industrial Heavy Duty label) was also sold as Model 3030 (Professional label).
Model 2683 (Industrial Heavy Duty label) was also sold as Model 3057 (Professional label) and Model DW357 (DeWalt).
Model 2684 (Industrial Heavy Duty label) was also sold as Model 3060 (Professional label) and Model DW360 (DeWalt).
Model 2690 (Industrial Heavy Duty label) was also sold as Model 3034 (Professional label).
Model 2694 (Industrial Heavy Duty label) was also sold as Model 3064 (Professional label) and Model DW364 (DeWalt).
Model 2700 (Industrial Heavy Duty label) was also sold as Model 3077 (Professional label) and Model DW377 (DeWalt).
Model 3105 (Industrial Heavy Duty label) was also sold as Model 3104 (Professional label) and Model DW304 (DeWalt, but with a ribbed nose).
Model 3157 (Industrial Heavy Duty label) was also sold as Model 3158 (Professional label) and Model DW318 (DeWalt).

Yea those suckers bought Dewalt radial arm saw company.Kept the name and sold off the business. Then proceeded to plaster the name on an ever widening range of non- saw tools that fewer And fewer were made in the USA.

@Wdwerker
Usage of the DeWalt name on their yellow-case power tools was B&D’s answer to power tools from their Japanese rivals (Makita, Ryobi and Hitachi).

BDFan1981, I see that you had a Black and Decker 1/2” spade drill on your list of wanted. Number 1321. I also seen that you don’t want to buy new. I have this particular drill, It isn’t new but it is still in the box and has never been used or even assembled. The info on the box reads. Black and Decker Industrial Heavy Duty. 1/2 in. Rev. spade handle drill 1321. 120V,AC/DC, 7.0 AMPS. 450 RPM Reversible.
