Topic tags/keywords: humor I just ordered my first nice plane – a LN Low Angle Jack Plane. This was an unsanctioned and furtive purchase, so I’ll need your best ideas to weather this storm. ;)

I’m sure you need this to make the boss a most amazing Christmas present, RIGHT? -- W James Brokenbourgh Custom furniture maker http://artisticwoodstudio.com/ |

Basically, as long as nice things keep coming out of your shop, like most of us, you can ask for forgiveness easier than you can ask for permission…At least that is what I do. I will say, however, one day when my wife came into my shop for a tool, she really looked around, and said to never, ever again give her grief about her shoe collection! -- Paul, Tennessee, http://www.tsunamiguitars.com |

Ha! That’s good stuff. Here’s my problem. She’s been asking for interior panel shutters for a year now. I keep saying I’m not good enough yet. So, I’m spending and working, but nothing’s coming out of the shop! I’m screwed! |

try the ‘exodus’ line you know ‘mana from heaven’ it’s been working for a long time now -- david - only thru kindness can this world be whole . If we don't succeed we run the risk of failure. Dan Quayle |

I would say whip up somethin for her, even if it looks like crap. A “mock up” if you will. Ive always been a believer in “show me, dont tell me”. All else fails begging, pleading, chocolate, flowers, and a dinner date cures most of my problems. It might even been cheaper than your new plane ;) -- "there aren’t many hand tools as awe-inspiring as the #8 jointer. I mean, it just reeks of cast iron heft and hubris" - Smitty |

Let’s see, you’re on the Internet on the biggest woodworking site with the best woodworkers available, and you have the whole web to search for project plans for interior panel shutters. That and a quick trip to one of those “finish it yourself” stores at night….you’re good! -- Paul, Tennessee, http://www.tsunamiguitars.com |

just say “Sweetheart, this plane is so beautiful and works so well, every time I see it I think of you”. -- There is nothing like the sound of a well tuned hand plane. - http://timetestedtools.wordpress.com (timetestedtools at hotmail dot c0m) |

I have nothing, but can only tell you that Don must be married to an extremely patient and kind woman. If I were to say anything close to that, my new plane would be exhibit A in the resulting homicide trial. -- There is little that is simple when it comes to making a simple box. |

Ha ha. I knew this would be a fun post. I used to look down upon fools trying to beg for permission to buy tools or hide purchases. Then I became a tool and lumber craigslist whore and spent so much $ even I’m mad at me! |

I make more than 5 times what my wife makes. She gets no input on my purchases. If she wants to have an opinion on how the money is spent, she needs to make more of it. Rich;) -- Rich;) -"Dada make a big mess?" "Yes Dada made a big mess." |

Can’t you just stencil “Stanley” on the side of it? -- I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was. |

That’s a great idea … BUT … a) she wouldn’t get it and b) she DOES GET the bills! ;) |
