Has any other member been sent a private message from a member named "OLLIE" wanting to be a buddy or friend. Turned out it is Scam to transfer money to your account. In other words send them your bank account details and they will clean your account out.

When I checked back to see who this "OLLIE" was their page had disappeared from LumberJocks, even their PM and my reply had gone from the site I put OLLIE on my buddiy list but that has also gone. I have seen these scams before but never expected my profile on Lumberjocks was so available. The Administration sure let this one get under the radar.

Note: I haven't been caught in their set up, we Aussies value our money to much but I have got some
rather nice nude photos of a Sudanese girl. If the Administrators want a copy of their last email
I will forward it to them if I had an address to send it to.

So let me get this straight.. free money and nude Sudanese girls.. I fail to see the problem with this. Well.. that's what happens when you live up-side-down.. all the best opportunities just slip right by ya.

Your right Howie our toilets flush backwards that is why there is so much ******************** in your country. I put this on here to warn you gullible c…suckers about this scam getting through on L.J's not to get smart arse replies. Ted sounds like they would have had your money by now, was gullible the right word or bloody stupid.
Jim: I did notice you put a welcome to LJ's on "OLLIE's" page before it disappeared, have you got a note of it anywhere?
Pete, your right mate thank goodness we live down under.

Hey Ted, I'm friendly alright, just didn't like Howie's remark. dakremer: Good to see Admin took them off before someone got caught, I got 3 emails from them before they offered me $5.7millions to bank for them. Over reaction, sorry, still a bit firey on why this can get through on this site.

Bob, I think you can be as careful and guarded as can be, yet the buggers still find some way. We have all just to stay vigilant and alert each other if we find something "off".

Sorry Bob, I took it as pointed toward me. Howie is just kidding around, as was I. That's one of the things I like most about LJ, is that we can kid around with each other. I understand your being a upset about the scammer. Sure would be nice if there was a way to keep them out, but that is virtually impossible. As long as people are able to sign up and become members, scammers will also be able to sign up. However, I do think there can be a better way to manage who can send private messages and, thus, emails. Maybe the admins can work that out. In the mean time, we all just have to be weary of potential scams and report them as we see them.

Anyway, have a good day Bob.

Hey Ted, nothing against you mate, but Howie should know better than to ridicule our country and I do have a sense of humour, how do you think I got the nude photos. I picked this as a scam after the first email, a person, a beautiful female from Senegal wanting a long term relationship, so I took the piss out of them, asked and got. Only hope no one else got caught up in this. The thing that worries me now is that if the Admin knew to close their site down as they suspected problems why isn't there some system on LJ's where members can be warned.
Your right Roger, never know where they will be next, every one has to be so careful nowadays.
Lets get on with wood working and enjoy each other projects and of course the kidding around.

Hi Bob,well I'm glad all that got sorted out.
There is a thread on LJs that is mostly off topic, but with some really good woodworking chit chat mixed in. Not everyone's cut of tea but a good feeling dose each day. If you ever want to shoot the breeze and informally learn some stuff, please look in on Blue Collar Woodworking… The best woodworking show since the invention of wood
Don't know if you know, but I'm a Pommey in Texas, so you are one of my cousins, just like NZ, Canada etc., so I'm conversant with Oz humour and ways, we're pretty proud of you down under.

Thanks Roger, have read a couple of Stumpie's blogs and your right there is some good stuff there to brighten the day. He has a good website also. No I didn't know your were English (notice I didn't say Pommey) living in Texas, that would be a hell of a change of life style. I think we all have our different humour and ways but it
is hard to go past the good old English humour and comedy. Jeez and that coming from a colonial.
All the best Roger, good to meet up with you.

I suspect that this entry is about as fraudulent as the one you received. Keep a watch.

Bob, James I did report that spam to Ms. Debbie and got a PM back from her a few minutes ago saying that it had been taken care of.
Bob, the Oz/Brit thing is just a load of fun, except the Brits still resent you guys dumping Rolfe Harris and Dame Edna on them.
I'm always giving Larry hell and I have a weekly video call with an Aussie mate in NSW. The English brand of Humour does not always go over well in some places, but WE understand, don't we?
I can't believe you said such nice things about Pommeys. Wanna have Dame Edna back?

James:

I got the same one in an e-mail notification at home, and copies of 4 other ones that were sent to my "Buddies" on my "Watch List."

I think the "Spammers" are using a new wrinkle now.

I do a lot of "Welcomes" and for a while now, at LEAST 50/60 % are "SPAM". You can see it right on their Initial Post. So I "Slam Them" with a "No Spam Allowed" Picture of some sort.

"New Wrinkle" is, their Initial Post appears to be okay. A day or so later it turns into Spam, as did the one from "zinnalove".

The "Spam" isn't going to stop (Initial Profile) because you can't "Flag" a "Profile". SO! They ALL stay on here.

Maybe they've taken "Zina" off, haven't checked my Profile yet.

Too bad. Now I'm back to being 2 Girls short for a "Menage A Troise" for the weekend. ;-}

Just for FUN, below is one of 10/15 "Spammer Slammers" pictures I use.

Have A Great One!!

Roger, Liked you skit at Larry. They are welcome to keep both of them. Did I say something nice, must be my sense of humour.

Before the post degenerates into another set of name calling, please allow me to interject. I believe this is just a cultural misunderstanding with no real negative intentions by any party. In the states, we were taught "fun facts" which usually would end up being myths with no scientific accuracy. The water in toilets over here swirl in a clockwise motion. It used to be said that the toilets on the other side of the world would swirl in a counterclockwise motion because of the way the earth's rotation is affected on the other side. I believe Howie was making a joke in reference to this while it was interpreted that backwards meant upside down which was taken as offense.

Good theory David but I started this forum as a warning that scammers had got into the site. There was no mention of toilets in my read and I considered it offensive when it was referred to. Howie we Aussies can certainly take a joke but not at the expense of our toilet system which is unique.
