Hi,
I am building a bookcase to go behind a couch. It’s about 6” wide by about 32” tall. I have a nice solid piece of oak for the top. I was looking for ideas of what to do for the edge on the sides and front of the top. Pics would be great.

Thanks,

deck

grab your router and test a few different bits on a piece of scrap and see which one fits best. i like the ogee for top pieces.

Short of routing your own trim pieces, you can also just browse around a home center and check out all the different moding styles they have in stock. And don’t forget that you can create your own style by “layering” one or more different pieces to create the edge you want. This is the easy way to do it.

You might contact a local cabinet shop to see what patters they have. I did this, supplied my own wood and was charged $1 a running foot for them to run it through their machine. I could have bought 2 bits for my router that would have done the same thing but this was far less expensive and faster.
