I’ve been out all day looking for matching hardware for this box. I want polished brass. Surface hinges, half mortise, handles on the side, corner protectors and some very decorative brass corner stays. I’d show you but they haven’t arrived yet.

Anyway, the box.

Haven’t gotten round to the finish yet, still working on a color for that oak and wishing it was padauk instead, but that’t the breaks. I’d need a chain saw to fix it now.

Jim, this is defiantly a case for learning. I’ll message this one into something nice, but the next one is going to be all walnut with poplar dowels and some leather strapping for a chest look. I may even make the top curved a bit. Should be fun.

I sure hope there is a market for these.

I’m also going to turn some feet for this. Haven’t decided on the look. I considered 3” balls of solid walnut, or maybe a glue up of the three woods and turn that to a ball. Probably just use the brass feet I have on order, or maybe just floor protectors. Like I say, it’s a learning experience.

Hey Russ, you might look at Lee Valley Hardware…......they have a very large variety of quality hardware and also an excellent selection of hand tools.

Woody, I like the lee valley stuff, but it’s so darn expensive. I love the hinges, but 30$ to 60$ a hinge is too much.

Russell,

I like the unique look from the different woods. Should be a knock out when the finish is applied. Make sure you keep us posted.

Were did you finally find your hardware?

Huff, to be frank, I don’t even know. I will be having deliveries for weeks and hopefully some of it will match. I have feet, handles, hinges, locks corner brackets, and stays all on order.
