Topic tags/keywords: jointer blades sharpening

Hi everyone,

I live near Cherry Hill, NJ just outside of Phila. I just had my jointer knives sharpened but the guy didn’t do a very good job – the edge of the blades are not straight when I place it against a straight edge. They are convex and have quite a hump in the middle.

Does anyone know of a tried and true sharpening service in my area that they’ve used and trust? I want to get the blades straight before I take it on myself and end up with something a lot worse than I have.

As always, any input would be welcome and appreciated.

Thanks!

I’ve been using Ridge Carbide for years. They do quality work. For my jointer/plainer knives I do a final honing (leather strop) after they come back.

They are in northern Jersey, Lyndhurst I believe

website is http://ridgecarbidetool.com
