I’d like to get the latest Tool Guide for Christmas. I looked for the 2012 on Taunton’s site, but no dice; are they sold out? Looks like the 2013 is already available.

Along the same lines, what’s the best publication / web site to get table-saw evaluations?

I don’t have any guidance on the Taunton Tool Guide. Call me a skeptic, but my advice is to take reviews from any source as less than gospel, and draw your own conclusions. The things that are most important to you may or may not be as important to a reviewer. Also, we often don’t know where the tools that reviewers get were sourced from….are the plucked off a shelf like those you and I have access to, or are they supplied directly from the factory where they may be subject to some special treatment? I’d value the input and opinions from forums like LJ’s more than a publication’s. When all is said and done, you’re evaluation carries the most weight.

LumberJocks! The “search” tab in the upper right yields
a plethora of valuable evaulations as does the reviews tab on top.

+1 on lumberjocks. I really like the review structure here.

Another place is amazon reviews.

Also, post up what you’re looking for in a saw and we can try to help steer you in the right direction. :)
