I ran across this while browsing craigs list. Has anyone ever seen one of these or know where I can get some plans to make one? I would love to have something like this for the holidays, or for a great crafts/sewing table. Thanks! http://athensohio.craigslist.org/fud/3377356879.html

I’m not sure if there are plans around, but my parents have one that looks similar. 363 days a year it is a hall table. On thanksgiving and Christmas, we all eat dinner there. It ’s massive and both sides fold up into a table.

that looks to be quite a challenge to build, hope you can find the plans for it and are able to build it, I look forward to seeing you do it.

The sides of this dont fold up. what looks like flip up table extentions are the door open. There is a main section and inside that the other leg sections nest. it uses standard expanding table slides to couple these sections together. the leaves are laid on top and supported by the extended leg sections. the leaves would have to be stored separately or could be stored on the back I suppose as they wouldn’t fit the interior of the cabinet. It is a cool table.

I might have to run over and look at it to get a better idea of the design before they sell it!

shelly, I think it’s gone, at least the author took the advert down. Like REO said it is a very doable concept. I think that if you don’t allow yourself to become overwhelmed by the entire project you could plan it taking it one step at a time. If you plan it yourself the furniture cabinet will likely fit your home in actual size needed and blend better with your decor. You can always bounce your ideas around here and get some good input. It might not happen fast but when it does you will truly be able to say that you did that, design – woodwork – and finishing.

Have your say...
