Up for sale/trade is a Freud dado blade model SD508. It’s an 8” blade with 4 tooth chippers that will do up to 29/32”. It’s arguably the best dado set Freud makes and I was very pleased with it’s performance, although I’ve only run about 20ft of dados while I’ve had it. I found the 3/32” chipper and shim pack very helpful when running dados for 12mm ply.
The outside blades are in great shape with only a bit of pitch/buildup on the teeth. A little cleaning will take care of that. The chippers are in decent shape with a few small chips out of the carbide on some of the teeth, none of them are broken. I bought it used and it came to me in this condition. I noticed no problems using the set, but I like to be completely honest with my listings, especially since I’m offering it to fellow woodworkers. I’m sure a sharpening couldn’t hurt, but it doesn’t seem to need one yet. The only reason I’m selling it is that I got a great deal on a Forrest Dado King and Woodworker II set from a local seller. As much as I’d like to keep both, I really don’t have the need, so one of them has to go.
I’d like to give this guy a good home so I’m going to offer it up here first. I’d like to get $80 plus shipping from 95125. I’m also interested in a trade+cash for a good miter gauge (Incra/Osbourne) or a Biesemeyer splitter for a Powermatic 66 (long shot but I figured I’d throw it out there).
Actual pics to come, until then here are the reviews and a current price:
