Topic tags/keywords: humor random thoughts before after

I am sure we all have been there. We all have thoughts on how something will go and the reality…well…is a little different…

Before – “I am glad I got these tools, it will be cool to make my own furniture…”
After – “Why did I get these tools? I can’t wait to make a board that is square…”

Before – “I am going to make my son a model train for Christmas…”
After – “My kid is still only 12, maybe he will still think it is cool to play with wooden blocks…”

Before – “I think I am going to try my hand at a few hand cut dovetails…”
After – “Do they sell wood filler by the quart?”

Before “I won’t need to mark out the center of these drill holes, I will use dead reckoning…”
After “I think I have an article somewhere on how to make wood plugs…”

Anyone care to add to the list?

Before: Sure honey, you can try turning a pen and see if you like it”
After: “Sure honey, I’ll stop what I am doing, change blades on the table saw, get the cross cut sled and cut up and drill a dozen blanks for you. I wasn’t doing anything important anyway.”

After: Hmmm… I wonder if anyone on Lumberjocks has ever had to fill-in those kind of gaps?!

I’ll make a blanket chest using only biscuits and glue. I could have glued up four sides of this thing without those $%&#$%#$ biscuits and made it better three weeks ago.

Or my favorite quandary…All the saws are square, I measured four times with Grissly machine tools and still the damn thing has a gap, only to realize the board cupped a bit after I planed it.

A clamp a chisel and a sander will fix most anything.

For me, it’s “after and before”, not “before and after” :

After: Christ, I’m glad that’s out of my shop. NO MORE COMMISSIONS!
Before: Could you make me a [.......]? Yeah, I suppose so.
