Topic tags/keywords: powermatic pm100 knife grinder sharpening

Selling a Powermatic knife grinder. It is for a PM100 “12” planer model” and has the actual motor with grinding wheel, runner bar that the grinding wheel goes on, index plunger, and indexing ring that goes on the cutter head shaft. Would like to get $400 and not really sure on shipping but we can talk. It is located in Northeast Kansas.

I’m not sure as what the year is as I am currently away from home. I bought the grinder and my planer at an auction together. My planer in a 1983 PM100. I was going to use it but after talking to Powermatic’s guru and sending him some pictures, he determined that my machine was machined wrong at the factory to bolt the indexer on. He said I could ship it to Vermont and have them work on it. Was not what I had in mind. What are you thinking on price?

I think you are right in the ballpark on the asking price, The grinding bar assembly for the PM100 is a rare bird, not too many of them floating around out there. If it were mine, I would hold fairly firm at that price.

I am looking casually for this unit to fit my PM100. You mention an attachment issue with your planer. Would you mind photographing the attachment site (threaded holes, etc) adjacent to a ruler so that I may verify that I will not have the same issues you have?

I am in southeast Michigan.

Here are some images Scott.

This is the indexer against my machine. The holes in the machine are wider than the that in the indexer.

This is the indexer with a rule laid across it.

With a caliper laid across the indexer. It seems that the holes in the machine should be 1” on center for the indexer to bolt on the machine. Any other questions Scott please let me know.

I am interested. As far as you know, is this a complete functioning unit?

Also, it appears I have threaded holes 1” o.c., they appear to be 1/4” coarse. Sound about right?

Finally, we’ll need to discuss shipping and payment. My zip code is 48125.

I will buy this off you if the grinding motor will fit for a model 221 20” planer all I need is the motor I don’t need the bar.
