My wife and I was going through some old photos today and found one of an old friend. We lost touch years ago after moving to different states. I would like to try and get back in touch but I would not know how. So I was wondering if anyone here has ever searched for old friends and found them. How did you do it?

He used to be in the navy when he was younger and when we lost touch his wife was a navy recruiter in San Diego. Last I knew though they were going to move to Texas. But this was 13 years ago.

Like chrisstef said, Facebook is the way to go. I have located several childhood friends who otherwise would have only been memories. Also, yu can “Google” their name. It is easier to find men because they don’t usually change their name when they get married.

I looked up all my old shipmates by online searching for the name of my ship , USS xxxxxxxx DD-777 or some such in your case. If you know on what ship(s) he served then you might be able to locate him.

I have found people on facebook and also by Google as stated above. The last time I used whitepages.com Between that and facebook I was able to get an address. Good luck!

you might try this, or one of the associated links: http://www.mustangone.com/cgi-bin/crewlisting.pl?classid=DD-692&hulln=736
For that matter, simply googling his full name can bring you right to him, unless his name is very popular. Just avoid those sites that want you to pay any money up-front.

Thx for the replies. I actually gave up on this thread.

Well, I have tried facebook many times but never had any luck. I tried mypage a few years ago and thought I found his daughter but after emailing her and letting her know who I was and who I thought she was, I never got a reply back. So I am assuming she was not the same person. She was only about 6 last I saw her.

His name is way to popular to google search. Tried it.

Just a real good friend. If he had not done his part in unmentionables “against forum rules” work, my wife and I would not be together today.

Thanks for your guys’s help. If you think of anything else let me know.
