A while back one of the woodworking magazines had an article on making a pizza peel. In the article they told how to make a sled to taper the peel with your planer.

I thought I had the magazine but I can’t find it.

Does anyone know where I might find a copy of this?

Not sure of the magazine, but there are enough LJ’s here that have made them I am sure you could search them and ask them for the information.

I just finished making a pizza peel as a Christmas gift and read that article in doing so. But for the life of me, I can’t find the magazine now. Maybe into the recycling bin? In any case, I opted to use two-sided tape and just taped some full width scraps of varying thicknesses to the flat side of the peel from the handle downward and took very small passes on my planer. It didn’t give me a real smooth taper over the face but I just used a smooth plane to even things out. I did cut a 1” secondary taper at the very bottom on the table saw using a tall fence and about a 7 degree or so blade angle. I then feathered this secondary taper into the primary one with a block plane. It looks good to me. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

I remember the article on using a planner sled also but can;t find it again. However the February 2012 Woodworker’s Journal has the plans and instructions for assembling one with a safety handel on page 46. And, Finewood working’ Start woodworking blog August 10, 2010 has full instructions for a amature woodworker.
Search “Planer Sled for Pizza peel” and find a full resource not only to purchase peels but to cionstruct them. The sled article didn’t seem to show up. The full article from Fineworking did however. I had thought it was in a Woodsmith gigs and fixtures article this year.
Hope this is of some help

I think you are thinking of Woodsmith Magazine. October 2010, issue 191.
