Do anyone have a good source for buying lumber, I’am interested in Cherry and Walnut or anything really.
Here in Newfoundland I can not seem to find anything but birch and oak.

Hi Darren,
There are a few places in the St. John’s area if that is any good to you: Lumber World in St. John’s (576-7283) has the widest selection – poplar, maple (soft and hard), cherry, birch, oak. Not much in the way of exotics however. Kent in St. John’s and Mt Pearl has maple, oak and some exotics (zebrano, purpleheart, paduk, etc… but the stuff ain’t cheap! – they sell by the linear foot and it’s all 3/4” thick x 6” wide I think). Romar in St. John’s also carries a bit of lumber (birch, oak and cherry – not sure about anything else and it’s a little pricier than Lumber World as it’s already dressed). Hope this helps!

Darren have you found any resources for lumber? Was wondering myself about the west coast.

Hey Chad. No luck. Provincial wood in st. John’s has some birch. But have realize that if you want cherry or anything else you got to order it from the main land. Kijiji has some ma and pop shops in around Ontario. Not sure what they are like but some nice prices. Just search Kijiji Canada and cherry hardwood and you should get some results.

Try A&M Wood Specialty in Ontario . I bought from these guys and had good luck. Only cost effective if you buy at least a few hundred bf and have it freighted to you.
