Cleaning Out My Shop

Any hand tools or clamps? I have a new DeWalt angle grinder that we might be able to do something with. I’m in Albany, NY so neither of us should get hit too hard on shipping.

sikrap – I have some hand tools but the ones I would part with are not really worth much. A couple of marking gauges and some newer model Irwin Marples. I use the Marples as my glue cleanup / standard maintenance chisels.I also plan on keeping my clamps but would be interested in getting rid of the mobile clamp rack. Its the rocker clamp rack and has a few extra bars etc.

crank49 – Yes I did. Nice catch, I’m multitasking at work right now. I have updated the post to reflect that it is in fact a bandsaw.

Dan, I would recommend taking that bandsaw off the list of items you want to sell for downsizing. I have only had a sizable one for under a year and I think I would get rid of my TS before getting ridding of that one now. Especially if I was selling for the purpose of space. So much you can do on a BS that you can’t do on a TS. The few things you can’t do on a BS that you can on a TS can be done with a router.

David – You have a very good point. That’s why I’m not sure I want to sell it but I might just because I am downsizing. I am downsizing because I plan to move in the near future and don’t know what type of space I will have. It also means less to move. So I want to get rid of the things that I don’t “need”. My hand tools, clamps, SawStop and Joiner/Planer are the things I wont sell because I have to much time and money invested in them. Right at this moment I don’t use the bandsaw enough to make me want to keep it around. When I start re-sawing and cutting major profiles again I think I want to go with a tool that fits in with the other that I have.

I hear you Dan and I know your reasoning is based on a much better understanding of your own situation than I have :) Whenever anyone talks about selling their tools here, I have the tendency to play “angel’s advocate” and give reasons why one shouldn’t sell. I figure if they are determined, and have good reason, my advice will go by the wayside. However, if one is second guessing, then maybe my comments might be enough of a push to keep one from making a decision they regret later on.

David – I really appreciate your input. I’m still on the fence and you have me leaning toward keeping it. At this point I’ll just have to work it out myself. If no one contacts me about it I won’t have to worry.

Dan, Thanks but I have a “few” clamp racks already. I’m trying to find some of the mid-size besseys to fill them :))
