Topic tags/keywords: powermatic jet tools shaper planer drill press clamp

Good morning out the LJs.

This post has multiple purposes.

The first is to pat myself on the back for the find to end all finds in Findland. I just got my hands on a 5HP Sawstop in excellent condition for $800. That’s right. Eight hundred dollars.

I have bought & sold a lot of equipment, but this one is far and away the best deal I have ever seen. Hooray for me.

Now, we all know that price ain’t right. The SS has to be one of the most coveted units out there. That is way too cheap.

Well, when I went to pick it up on Tuesday, I spent the better part of the day with the seller in his shop. Folks, this is the nicest set up I have ever seen. Powermatic everywhere and very little use on any of the machines. Any one of us would give their eye teeth just to have a day to work in there. As it happens, a series of tragic misfortunes is forcing the sale of everything & the owner did not have a great understanding of the market for his equipment and was ready to give away everything.

See where the guilt is coming in yet?

To make a long story short, I offered to help him clean up and get some reasonable value back on his investment. This fella has been through (and is going through) some really tough times, and my work is pretty slow right now, so why not.

Now here is where, I hope, some of you come in.

If you are anywhere close to Maryland, you can find some top shelf equipment for a chunk below retail. I may even be able to arrange delivery, depending on your location.

Here is a partial list of the items for sale: PM Drill Press, Lathe, Jointer, Contractors TS, Mortiser, Drum Sander, Planer, Dust Colkector & Pipe. Jet Shaper, Spindle Sander & Delta RAS. Festool, Kreg, DeWalt, Bessey, and much more.

There are also trucks, trailers & a backhoe as well as a complete auto shop.

Please contact me for details on how you can get your hands on sone exceptional tools and help out a decent guy at the same time (not me – the owner).

I will be helping him list everything on CL/eBay as well, but I wanted to try here first.

I hope everyone has a great day and I appreciate your time. -RM

I would have bought the Sawstop for $800.

I would have felt like a dirtbag.

You’re doing a good thing.

You should take pics of the smaller shippable items and post em up. :)

Joe – La Plata, MD – not particularly close to you.

We’re you looking for anything in particular? I can probably get it to you or meet you half way.

I will have tons of pics – thinking about a blog sale. Is there such a thing?

If not, in thinking of inventing a blog-sale.

I’m in no financial shape to be buying equipment and I’m too far away anyway, but what you’re doing is a noble thing. I hope things go well for you both.

Joe,

Shoot me an email at read@easthilldevelopment.com. I’ve got a PM Mortiser & DC as well as a Jet DC. Nearly 0 hours on all 3.

it may be worth a delivery trip to philly If i were to buy that drill press and Joe were to buy something else. MD is just a little too far for me but for a well priced PM drill press, i think i would defiantly take a trip down to philly

That is very nice of you to be able to help him sort things out for his priced machines. Thumbs up.

I would love to buy that shaper from him but being in San Antonio it likely is cost prohibitive. Hopefully it all sells for your friend.

Guys,

Thank you for the kind words – I genuinely appreciate it.

I have been at the shop in question for the last 2 days. We’ve just about got everything cleaned up and tuned. I feel qualified, at this point, to write a review on 75% of the Powermatic product line. Wow, those are some impressive machines.

I am heading back tomorrow to get photos and finish going over the last few power tools.

Good for you! Your conscience served you and the other guy well!
