Topic tags/keywords: tip router

Usually my ideas are not original and those that are are probably,at best, nothing to brag about. But here is one on router tables. I am sure someone else may have tried this. I mounted the table top on hinges. I don’t have a router lift so all my adjustments are from under the table. Having it on hinges allows me to acess the router without bending. I have a bad back so this is a plus. When I open it to about 45 degrees I have clear acess to the tool but can still see the router bit above the table, all while standing straight. I am also able to lock the table down when in use but I am not sure it really matters. My crowded shop is full of things, most are recycled, that allow me to work in a comfortable position. I think I do Rube Goldberg proud.

Good idea. A good piano hinge would do the job. just need something to prop it up.

a lot of routers have a base plate that rests in routed out area of the top of the table. You can simply lift the router out of the table which also works well to gain access to the router.
