Topic tags/keywords: question

So, I just purchased a tuff tooth – new swedish silicon band saw blade. I am curious, before I got too craZy and am not able to return it, has anyone heard anything good/bad about these blades? About tuff tooth, as well as this particular blade. The blade is low tension tungsten/silicon impregnated tool steel.

I’m of no help, other than giving you a bump. Good luck.

I don’t know anything about these bands, but the description sounds to me like they have flame hardened teeth which is not a good thing if resharpening is to be considered. It sounds like a metal cutting band not a wood cutting band.

I just checked with the tuff tooth website and found the also make the Timberwolf blades, so it sounds like it’s a good band. I just don’t like the flame hardened tooth idea. Maybe it doesn’t matter much as most people do not sharpen bands. I don’t like them on circular saw blades or handsaws because those are more often sharpened by grinding, not filing. Saw blades can be sharpened by hand, but if it’s flame hardened, a grinding machine is required and can’t be sharpened at home.

Thanks MrRon. I don’t know much either, the sales guy (not commission), said they are fantastic, thought I’d give it a try. Plus, if it sucks, I’m only out $30.

Have your say...
