Topic tags/keywords: incra super system So I am working on a mobile table saw/router and have run into a problem with using a cast iron router wing insert. I think one way to fix one problem with the router fence would be to purchase an Incra LS Super System fence, but my question is do I get the 17” or the 25”? I think 17 would be plenty for me but don’t know if in the long run the 25 would be better. Whats everyone think? Here is a link to my blog about my project right now http://lumberjocks.com/Peteyb/blog/29944 |

I have the 17 inch one and that seem to be enough for the small amount of routing that I do. I like it very much. -- WJ Brady |

With the router table on the right side, how will you mount the Incra without taking away too much from your TS fence capacity? Is that the problem you mention? I’d do two things. One, I’d put the cast iron extension on the left hand side for greater accessibility. Two, I’d get an Incra TS-LS system. You might sell your existing TS fence to help finance the new fence. Here is an alternative…you just have to make the Incra base removable…read the comments… -- jay, www.allaboutastro.com |

BTW, I seldom need that much fence adjustment for my TS-LS. If I am doing something like stopped dados in the middle of big panels, I’d just use my hand-held router with guides. Otherwise, I’m trying to think why you’d want something with a large capacity. It escapes me at this moment. I think the 17” is plenty. -- jay, www.allaboutastro.com |

Thanks for the help guys. I got a good deal and upgraded to the 25” so hopefully those 8” will come in handy some time. Cosmicsniper I have been modeling my project after zzzzdoc’s design but didn’t know if I wanted to do the Incra fence but finding a cast iron router wing for a table saw that will have an opening of 9 1/4” x 11 3/4” has been tricky. I found hopefully a nice one from General but their fence mounted on the underneath of the cast iron and would not work because of the table saw rails. |

Peteryb: I have both the TS-LS and LS-17 (for my RT); I went with the 17” due to the ‘grey’ space required to the right of the Positioner Base. The 25” is an excellent choice. The Incra system does take some getting used to, but I’ve had mine for 10 years, and it remains dead-accurate and solid. If you have any assembly or operational issues, I’ll be glad to help. -- Lead By Example; Make a Difference |
