Just my non-expert opinion, but I think it might be priced a bit high. I got my Delta 8" Jointer for only $525 used off of CL. Now I think I got a good deal, but mine is also in better shape than this one. Although mine is only 1.5 HP and not made in then USA. I wonder if this one really is 2 HP? But like I said, I am no expert. Maybe you could talk him down or maybe others will think it is worth it.
I don't know where or how he arrived at the price , but it is more than I would offer him as well.
I wouldn't even consider the stand as part of the deal, pricewise.
I only posted this for others as I already have an 8" Powermatic that I'm restoring : )
Thats some good ole iron there. I have it's little baby brother. A 4" same vintage and that weighs a good bit. I only payed $15 for mine, so that being twice the size should only be $30 right?
Throughout the years I've seen numerous 'Frankenplanes' ...this, however, is the 1st 'Frankenplaner' that I can remember.
CL has brought to light some interesting and very collectable tools.
The paring of these to brands, albeit humorous, and most likely out of necessity, is valued as such that only the current owner can appreciate.
Funny how that Grizzly base just takes over the whole picture !
I'm tempted to send him an email and ask if the pick-up truck comes with it for that price : )
