Topic tags/keywords: through mortise and tenon joinery stretcher

I’m working on a nightstand and installing a stretcher at the bottom just below the bottom shelf connecting the two panels. I’m using through mortise and tenon joinery. I’m taking a class and the explanation I’m getting from the teacher is a bit complicated and seems like too many steps. Does someone have a technique that is simple and quick without using any test pieces. I am being required to use a dado set up in the shop tablesaw. Thanks for your suggestions.

I assume the dado set up is for the tenons! If not I don’t know what else you would use the dado set for in this case. I have seen stretchers between legs but not between panels?

Can you show a drawing/photo for more detail?
