Just a heads-up for any of you who are into period furniture, or any of the other American decorative arts for that matter. Winterthur is a 175 room museum near Willington, Delaware that is “period furniture heaven” for a woodworker. It was created by Henry Francis Dupont, a guy with really great taste and bottomless pockets when it came to spending money.

In addition to a mind-blowing collection of furniture spanning the time from about 1600 to about 1840, Winterthur has acres and acres of stunning hardwood forest with superb examples of many of the hardwoods native to the Eastern USA. I spent 2 days at Winterthur last month and it was an amazing experience, Highly recommended.

Thank you for the potential vacation spot description. Do you think I can convince the wife to spend two days there?
