Hi all,

Just bought a brand new Jet proshop 30” castwings table saw. Looks great and feels great, I can’t wait to use it. However, I have two issues with it straight out of the box and perhaps I overlooekd something during install. Hopefully you guys can help me troubleshoot today or I can call their customer service tomorrow.

1. Arbor lock does not lock. The button doesn’t seem to do anything.

2. Miter gauge rubs along the surface of the cast iron top which gouges the finish. overtime, this could be a problem. Is there a way to adjust this?

Any ideas?

I have almost the same saw, I like it quite well.

The arbor lock only works when the blade is raised to it’s full height. Even then I’ve found mine slips easily, and I’ve just gone to using two wrenches to change the blade. Some folks here have the same saw and theirs works fine. I suppose I could have complained and tried to get it fixed, but I didn’t really care; kind of prefer two wrenches anyway.

Exactly what part of the miter gauge is rubbing? The bar should not bottom out in the slot, it should have a gap (no miter bar guided attachments should bottoms out, or chips and dust can raise the bar and throw off the cut). If it’s the entire gauge, that normal. If it seems to have rough edges that worry you, a bit of sandpaper or a file should be able to smooth out the edges to prevent scratching. Or is it something I’m missing?

Enjoy the new toy; I mean tool. :-)

To clarify, is the miter gauge just making a mark on the surface, or is it literally gouging the top? Marks from fences and miter gauges sliding is normal…its just superficial. Gouging the surface is not normal.

Figured out the arbor lock. Thanks. I guess the motet is making a mark another gouging. I may have exaggerated. The marks rubbed off with my finger. So I’m good to go! Ready to start building! Thanks guys.

Congrats on your purchase.

The pro shop appears to be well liked by its owners, and I believe the newer model comes with a riving knife which would now make it even better!!!

Yes, riving knife, anti kickback pawls and guard. Got it for 1099 as it was on display for some time + a $200 gift card to the shop I purchased it from as a bonus. I think it was a good deal!
