Topic tags/keywords: resource contest

I just saw this or I would have posted this contest sooner.

Instructables is a great project site with a real focus on reusing material.

This contest requires an “instructable” for a wood project, so those of you who have done blogs on your work are pretty much prepared. I am not, so I won’t be entering. (It is free to sign up for Instructables) Here is an example of an instructable for a wood working project (entered in the contest but not mine)

About the contest:
-Two categories – indoor and outdoor
-”Just submit a new Instructable that covers the creation of a new item with wood or how to take care of an existing wooden item. The only extra requirement is that you use stain (incl. clear finish) on the wood. What really matters is the project and the care you put into it.”
-Prizes include Weber Genesis grill, Dyson vacuum and Kindle Fire (prizes for each indoor and outdoor)

There are only 72 entries so far and many of them are multiples of the same members (you can only win once). So, there might be 40 unique members entered for 14 great prizes! Pretty good odds considering the quality of many entries is not very high.

Oh, and you can enter and win if you are from a lot of places: “Contest is open to entries from US, Canada [excluding Quebec], UK, China, Belgium, the Netherlands, Australia, Colombia, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, India, and Denmark.” That is a nice change from US only contests.

OMG I might enter my pallet folding table, but I would have to stain it first… hey wait, the pens! :D

Starting to post something now, nothing like being in the middle of a repeat project to be able to get during and finished product pics

Maybe just an old chest? Or maybe just a small desk?

While too late as many said I do appreciate your finding the site as there are some interesting projects from other fields. Bookmarked and thanks.

thanks, can’t take credit for the pattern but they’re fun to build and the look on the kids’ faces when they get them is priceless. I will be starting on a few goats for next year, but they are bigger and more labor intensive.
