Topic tags/keywords: question

I went to my post on ‘Gettin’ Ol Is Gettin’ Old’ in this forum to check out a reply to find out that it had been hijacked. It looked like the original had been copied then deleted and the copy posted with a photo of two people sitting in Adirondack chairs. If you click on the photo it went to a retail site . What’s with this? Does Admin know about it? Also, how do I get rid of this facebook share thing at the bottom of my posts?

I just went to your other post and it all looks good, with your original post and two replies, the most recent posted eleven hours ago. No signs of any pictures.

That’s weird but not terribly surprising. These hacker jerks will try to muscle into any site that gets a lot of traffic. I can’t help you on the Facebook thing.

You only see the ad if you’re not signed in. It’s not really hijacked. Martin actually does us a favor by reducing all those ads if you’re a registered user and signed in.

Thanks, guys…Now I get it. I wasn’t signed in when I saw it. Now I have to check into this share bar at the end of my posts.

Not sure if you would want to go to this much trouble to get rid of that sharing bar, but one way to do it is to install the Firefox browser, install the NoScript extension, then mark the various domains that provide those sharing options as untrusted. You can also selectively block some of the more obnoxious advertisement providers to get a cleaner looking page, but still have the normal javascript functionality enabled so that the features of web sites still work.

Have your say...
