I am starting out to make the “flip top” desk featured a few months ago.
My question concerns the tapered legs. I plan to use the band saw and a tapering jig to cut the tapers and would like to know what blade to use so I do not have a lot of finishing on the cut tapers. I have a Delta bandsaw. The wood I am using is hard maple

I would suggest a thicker blade, 3/8” at least 1/2” would be better, with either a regular or skip tooth pattern. Regular will give you a smoother cut, but it will be slow going, skip tooth will cut faster but you may need a little more finishing work.

James, you just missed half of your woodworking life! We’ve been discussing what brand of blades other LJs use. But it’s ok. Better late than never, man!
