I’m looking at buying a used unisaw model 36-944 Premium Edition. I currently have a unisaw model 34-802. They seem to be about the same saw, except for the Premium Edition stuff (motor cover, dust collector, and hook for wrenches). The 36-944 was made in 1999 while the 34-802 was made in 1989 (I believe). I’m going to keep one and give the other one to my younger brother. Can anybody tell me if there is any significant differences between these two saws? Were there any differences in quality during those 10 years, or where there were made, etc? Thanks

I probably cannot help you. W do have a Unisaw that is about 10 years old that works great. No complaint. I am not sure of the model. Ours has a 30” Uni-fence and 3 hp single phase. I am fairly sure it is a good saw and worthy of checking into.

Through the 90’s and early 21st century Delta’s marketing group changed the color of the Unisaw, threw in various extra’s and advertised it as “xxxx Edition”. Two I remember are the Grand Edition (an ivory colored job with Norm’s pic in the ad) and the Platinum Edition (mine, a 36-955, made about 2001, and more of a silver color). The Platinum came with a nifty name tag that declared the saw was “made especially for (insert name)”. At their heart they are the same saws. That said, the earlier saw made have some differences that I would think give it an edge…but in the end, either one of them are lifetime saws so flip a coin (unless one is RT, the other LT…stuff like that).
