I like starting my day in the shop with coffee and my pipe. I either smoke my Peterson or Ben Wade from time to time while working and find it relaxing. Any other pipe smokers here on LJ?

No pipes, but my wife got me started on cigars while on our honeymoon in the Dominican Republic. If im in the shop and the kids arent home, Ill light one up. My next project is probably going to be a humidor made from the dead dogwood in my front yard. :-P

Pipes are pretty much out of vogue, but I sure love the smell of them.
I’m still puffing on cigs, but maybe I’ll try to switch. Any suggestions for equipment and tobacco brand?

Up until about a year ago, yep, pipe smoker. Heart attack, came home to find pipes thrown away, so I went Cold Turkey. Dr. Grabows, usually. Smoked Vanila flavoured, generic. 12 oz/ $15. That’s fifeteen a week in my pocket, or about 3 gal. of gas. still miss them, just can’t stand the smell anymore.

Hey, Jim…I wouldn’t say that pipes are out of vogue because I really don’t think it ever was! :} Major pipe makers like Dunhil of Londonl, Savenelli of Italy, and Peterson of Ireland are produce excellent pipes by the thousands every year. Even the great company Missouri Meershaum of Wahisngton, MO puts out thousands of their famous corn cob pipes. This is the company that made Douglas MacArthur’s famous corn cob pipes were custom made by them and you can buy the same pipe today! This is a great time to be a pipe smoker because of all of the tobacco and pipes available, especially on line. Try it…you’ll like it!

I smoked a pipe for about 20 years. Quit when I got interested in riding bicycles.
I still allow myself to have a good cigar about three or four times a year. That’s about how often I’m able to get a Cuban.

Have your say...
