Topic tags/keywords: question tip

A while back I promised to do a blog about building my next locomotive. My question, do I start the blog as I am building? I ask because this project has a low priority and has been set back a couple of times as much as 2 months. So should I start the blog now or wait and finsh the project, taking pictures as I go ?
Your input would be greatly appreciated.

I’d vote for posting as you progress. We readers are not really going to be aware of how much time passes between updates.

Having said that, I’d also say it would be perfectly fine to wait until the end to put the whole thing together. It’s your blog, my friend. :-)

I blogged my Miter Bench and Storage project as I advanced though the project. It took 130 days to get it done and eight blog entries. That is my preference, but I have seen others do it all at once. It depends on how you work and what information you want to document. It is really hard to remember problems and mistakes that you made at the beginning of the project if the project time line is a long one. Once again…IMHO.

the progression by photographs seems to me judicious its will allow the lumberjocks beginners has to approach construction and to see details to allow them D to advance in their projects

Because I’m full of ideas no one pays any attention to … Here goes

If it were me here’s what I would do. I would write it to my word processor “Word” or what ever I have. I would do it as I went along with the construction. Divide it into chapters as I go along. This way I could proof read everything slowly as I write. All the while I would be taking pictures. When I’m done, I would start by doing a copy and paste from the saved word processor to my blog on LumberJocks a chapter at a time. Oh, say one every couple of days or so.

Blog as you go. I took six months to finish a little box, and blogged it the whole way. I think it’s better for a “real time” effect!

Odie, that was my thinking. The majority seems to want it the other way. I’m still not sure which way I’m going to do it. I’m concerned that if something else comes up the project could get put on hold again. The last time it was on hold for a full 3 months.

Mr Woody….. I must agree with Odie…. When I first became a member her at LJ’s, I tried to do a blog on a project that just didn’t work out for me…... I still have not completed it and probably will not. Now I have a half finished project and a half finished blog…....... But the choice is yours, do as you will…......... and by the way, I can’t wait to see your locomotive in progress.
