Topic tags/keywords: plane

My lovely bride located a transitional plane this past weekend at a local flea market and thought I might be interested. She said it had a bell on it and was only $15. I told her to wait and I would take a look. When I got there I see it is a Stanley #127. There are some cracks in the base I will need to deal with and it looks like the blade is not original.

I also picked up this square for $2. It appears to be copper plated. It’s 24×18.

It also has rafter table info on the base.

But I’m not sure what the info on the tongue is all about. Anyone help me out on that?

A couple nice finds. I can’t wait to see the 127 in action.

The 18 over 24 and 30 is the 3-4-5 triangle layout. http://www.forestryforum.com/cgi-bin/tips/tips.cgi?display:1101741656-4318.txt

The 127 is a very desirable plane to own, I have a space reserved for one of these myself! Great find!

Killer find. Ive got a large square very similar to that one. I might have to try and get some more rust off of it to see if its a match. Lobe the liberty bell 127. Thats one sexy wood bodied plane.

I like how the iron bed is screwed down at all four corners, unlike the typical Transitional plane that is attached only by two or three screws along the longitudinal center. This makes for a very stable plane!!
