A friend of mine had a large oak felled in a storm. He cut up the tree with his chainsaw and requested that I ask the LJ community if there are any LJs in his area who might want some of this. See the pic. They are all large chunks.

Personal message me if you want the contact info for the person giving away the wood.

I was told wood from such a tree was unstable, is there any truth to this?

If the tree came down because out was rotting then it might be unstable, but this tree appears to have ben in pretty good shape when it was felled. So it should be as stable as any other oak.
