I found a used dc by reliant. It has the motor the impeller and the base but no bags or the brackets for the bags. The guy is asking $50 and I am just wondering if it is worth it or are the missing bags and brackets a deal killer he said his offer is good till tomorrow evening.

I don’t know much about that dc but I think at 50 it has good value. You get a 3 hp motor and impeller for very little money. Then again u might have to spend a decent amount for the missing parts. Many people who buy dc with bags upgrade the bags anyway.

I picked up a motor and impeller for free and just hooked up a 7” pipe to the impeller opening and ran it into
the shop and hooked up a Y. I put a Thein separator in a garbage can on the 4” line and a smaller thein
separator on the two inch line and run the exhaust outside for now. The separators remove nearly all the
dust and chips to protect the impeller and not much gets exhausted to the outside. Several members here
have built their own setups and have hooked up cyclones and filters to enable them to exhaust the air back
into the shop and eliminate heat and cooling loss. Thein also has a lot of information on designing a system.
The motor alone is worth more than $50. I would grab it and design my own dust collector around it, it is
big enough to handle any small shop and is way less expensive than most systems.

Yep, jump on it. Ditto on Jerry and Gus, build your own ‘better’ separator. I use a DIY Thein separator on my HF unit and it works wonders.

Another vote to get it, you can build a pretty good system out of that.

Grab it and fab your own supports. You don’t need to make it stock…lots of upgrades ideas out there.
