Topic tags/keywords: question purpleheart One of my local hardwood suppliers has Purpleheart on sale for $6 a board ft. I was thinking of picking up a stick just to have some on hand, it is 5/4 and various widths most boards are about 8ft long. Is this a good deal? -- //FC - Round Rock, TX - "Experience is what you get just after you need it" |

$6-something BF was what I paid for the 8/4 I used for trimming out my workbench. Seems pretty cheap when you consider it’s coming from a continent away and a lot of domestic hardwoods are the same rough price or more. -- Use the fence Luke |

LoneRider, Brazos Forest Products is the one with the Purpleheart. The other one here in town is Fine Lumber and Plywood. Neither are that cheap in my opinion but have a very large supply of hardwoods. -- //FC - Round Rock, TX - "Experience is what you get just after you need it" |

That’s a good price. The store in my area sells it for $7.20/bf 4/4 and 8/4. |

I just got about 8 ft. of 8/4 for $6.60/bf on sale at Rockler, so it looks like a pretty good deal to me too! -- Ryno http://shawsheenwoodworks.com |
