Topic tags/keywords: laser engraver

I know a few guys here have Laser Engravers. I am looking to get something to start to play with but certainly do not have a huge budget. I was wondering if anyone has one of the inexpensive units and let me know how they like it or don’t. I am mostly looking at it to be able to engrave my games that I have been making.

Thanks All

Chris: Looks like a lot of people are interested in reading your question. But, no one has any answers.

But the links on your post have lots of vendors taging along on your topic.

Good luck

You might also consider a desktop CNC. It will do the engraving and a lot more. Bigger learning curve than the laser, but more flexibility. FYI – the laser typically has to be vented to the outside, similar to a dryer.

You can build a CNC router for under $800.
With the right bits you can engrave in almost anything.

Thanks for the responses. I have also considered the cnc router option. the problem is that I generally like to put the directions right on the games that I make. I ma not sure that the router can do something in that small a font. If you guys have done that or know it can be done please let me know. Here is a link to some of my games that I am looking to do in larger quantities.
