Does any one have any experience with the Grizzley 17” 2 HP, G0513×2 Bandsaw? Is It a good buy? How hard to change blades. My wonderful wife has ok’d the $ for the 19” but I can’t see that it buys me much. 3 hp and a 1 1/4 inch blade. Is that worth $500? Is there another saw that is a better buy?

I think it depends what you want to do with it. Re-sawing on that 19” saw would really be nice.

Re-sawing is what I’m after. According to the specs they have the same re-saw capacity ( height). The 19” is 3 hp the 17” is two. The 19” gives you a 25% wider blade.

The extra power sure can’t hurt. I have a 1 1/2 hp Jet 14” with the riser and it does OK but I am always wishing I had more power when I am re-sawing.

That’s about an 11” piece of hard maple BTW

Are you just a hobby worker or a production guy? Production needs more power and a larger blade means a cleaner resaw.

Hobby, you take the extra cash and buy 2 tools ;)
