Just would like to ask those in charge of LJ’s to add a Tab up top for “sources” or “Supplies”. This way people can post links or sources of where to buy supplies like good sandpaper, wood sources (organized by location and mail order), tools etc. Otherwise they will just keep getting lost in the forums when people ask for certain sources.

just my opinion

Would be a great idea, but would it upset the advertisers?

It would also be nice to have comparison ratings capability in Reviews: filter on “Tablesaw” and “Rating” (4 or higher), sorted most recent date first. But, again, don’t want to upset advertisers.

Just being practical, advertsing provides money to pay for everything we have here.

This is a good idea! But we need not to upset advertisers. How about a source tab for advertisers only?

From what little I understand of the internet most advertisers pay on a per click basis. Meaning when the visitor clicks on the banner the advertiser pays the site owner for that click or a percentage of the sale from that visitor. The advertiser as I understand does not really pay to have their banner placed. Otherwise you would not be getting womens underwear ads on lumberjocks after the boss (a.k.a. wife) did some shopping online. That would be bad advertisement on a woodworking themed community.

I could be wrong though. Also from what I understand if it is on a commission type setup lumberjocks would benefit more by partnering up vendors that LJ’ers would rather visit or adding to those that most don’t know existed. Also advertisers could have a better looking link than just a plain text that those who do not pay would get.

Remember the more valuable the site is to visitors the more valuable it is to advertise on.
