I just got a new Mac, and in the past I have been able to zoom pics from Lumberjocks and copy them to my computer for inspiration.

I tried this with my Mac, but could not get it to work.

I double clicked (two fingers), but the menu does not show a “save to iPhoto” option.

Can anyone help me learn how to copy pics to my computer?

Thanks!

If you are using the mac mouse hit the shift key when clicking the mouse to see the options that would appear when using a right click.

OK, perhaps I should be more clear.

When I click “zoom pictures”, then right click with the mouse pad, I don’t get a choice to save to iphoto.

I do get that choice, but only when the pics are small.

Is there any way to save the pics while in “zoom” mode?

There was with windows!

I thought that Macs were supposed to be better!

You can zoom into the photo, then take a screen shot (of the whole screen) by pressing: shift, command, 3 at the same time. Or you can select which part of the screen you want to take a picture of by pressing: shift, command, 4 at the same time, then selecting the photo. These screen shots should appear on your desktop.

If you are using the mac mouse hit the shift key when clicking the mouse to see the options that would appear when using a right click.

Control key, rather than shift key.

When I click “zoom pictures”, then right click with the mouse pad, I don’t get a choice to save to iphoto.

This appears only in Safari, and, you’re right, not on the zoomed pictures.

This is what I do…
  • Select the picture you want to copy, so it’s the “big” picture to the left of the 6 small pictures.
  • Right click and select “View image” (FireFox) or ‘View image in new tab” (Safari)
  • You’ll now have a browser window or tab with just that picture, but not at the best size. The URL looks something like…

    (FireFox)
    or…

    (Safari)

Remove the “weird stuff” at the end, until you get to…

(FireFox and Safari) and click enter/return

You now have a window/tab with just the picture, at maximum size.

I don’t collect my photos in iPhoto, but in folder in the Finder, so I just drag the photo to the correct folder in the Finder, but you can equally well drag the image to the iPhoto icon in the dock.

Hope that helps.

With a 10” screen?
I’m sitting here behind a 28” and a 24” – think I’ll stick where I am thanks.

KnickKnack, my serious computer with 27” screen is in the other room reserved for heavy computing. My media tablet which can handle posting pix to LJ is wherever I want it to be. In my lap, in the shop, in the bedroom, it goes where I go and can handle any media “stuff” I want to do. With the added Eye-Fi, audio receiver adapter, mouse and keyboard it is the greatest invention since the beginning of PCs. It really fits anything I want to do. Very versatile, very groovy, very cool, very very neat. I win.

If a picture on the internet won’t let me copy and save I just do a screen shot or print screen then paste it into Microsoft Paint or any photo editing software would work. Then save it.
