Newport secretary

I’ve had no luck in this regard either, at least not at a price I could live with. I think Allan Breed (was on FWW back cover a few years ago) may sell something like this but he wants a ton of money (~$500) for the drawings !

Just out of curiosity, I Googled ‘Newport Secretary’, just to see what kind of piece of furniture it was.
I am still picking my jaw off the ground…

$12,100,000. An astonishing price tag. Makes $500 for the plans seem insignificant.

Yah-I would like to sell one for about 100,000 or so. that would pay off my mortgage and then some.

I expect if you acquired the books on the style by Norm Vandal
and Jeff Greene you would find you had all the information needed
to build any typical piece from a good photograph. Making scale
drawings from photos is a rather basic reproduction technique and
in casework the geometries are almost never foreshortened in
a problem way. Then there’s the carving and stuff like that but
you can get that information from the books I mentioned and/or
Lonnie Bird’s book on shaping wood.

I don’t think building a Newport block front secretary is as simple as Loren suggests. There are a lot of details that would be darn hard to even see, let alone copy, from photos and the like.
