Hi Everyone,

If you would be so kind as to answer two quick questions for me, I would greatly appreciate it.

When using bead board for the panels in kitchen cabinets do you cut each panel so the location of the beads follow the same layout on each panel or not?

Since the panels are made of plywood, do you still have to cut the panels so they leave some room for expansion or not. If you do cut them slightly short, how much shorter?

Thanks in advance for your help.

...I try to center them in the door with the largest plain area showing and I cut them 1/8” under size.

No one but you will pay any attention to the location of the beads, nor will they be impressed by your effort to keep them all similarly located once you point it out to them. Cut for highest yield from your raw stock. With regard to rattle room, plywood does not require you to make allowances for wood movement normal in solid stock. If you examine your ply sandwich, you will see that the long grain direction is alternated on each layer basically eliminating any opportunity for movement in the sheet.

The door frame will expand and contract, so you might want to undercut just a bit and it will help with assembly. Ed is right about the panel layout. No one but you will know.
